WFC 2008 Fan Quiz question on national team captaincy surprisingly became a stumbling block
At the 2008 Prague Games youth tournament, hundreds of participants have put not only their floorball skills to the test – but also their brains. A trivia quiz testing their knowledge of the world championships was prepared for them by the organizers of the 2008 WFC in the Czech Republic. Although most of five questions were being answered correctly by a vast majority of players competing, the question on the name of the Czech national team captain on the 2004 WFC in Switzerland proved to be the biggest catch of them all.
The question on the WFC attendance rate record was answered without a single mistake – it was the 1996 WFC final in Sweden´s Globen Arena, played in front of the crowd of 15 106.
1. The currently highest attendance rate for a WFC game is:
a) 11 428 spectators
b) 15 106 spectators
c) 16 400 spectators
Similar percentage of correct answers was also at the second question – silver medal from the 2004 WFC in Switzerland is the greatest success of Czech floorball and seems to be engraved deep in minds of all contestants.
2.The currently best placement of Czech national team on a WFC is:
a) 2nd place
b) 3rd place
c) 4th place
The first question to bring some, although a few, wrong answers, was number 3. However, most floorball fans know very well that the only, i.e. already six-time world floorball champion is the unbeatable Sweden.
3. How many times has team Sweden won the men's World Championship?
Fourth question scored the second highest wrong answer rate. All of the contestants knew that the 2006 WFC final game between Finland and Sweden was pretty tight but only a few remembered the home team scoring the game-winning power play goal to reach the 7:6 overtime victory.
4. The final score of the 2006 WFC final game Sweden vs. Finland was:
a) 6:5 on penalty shootout
c) 7:6 OT
However, the hardest nut to crack was arguably the final question which buried the odds of winning for almost all contestants! The captain of Czech national team on the 2004 WFC in Switzerland was neither Daniel Folta nor Radim Cepek but the vice-champion trophy glittered first over the head of Tomáš Trnavský!
5. The captain of Czech national team on the 2004 WFC in Switzerland was:
a) Daniel Folta
b) Tomáš Trnavský
c) Radim Cepek
Finally then only 19 competitors with the full score of correct answers advanced to the final draw for five top-value prizes. Names of the lucky winners who can look forward to one-week free passes valid for all games of the 2008 WFC Preliminaries are listed below in alphabetical order:
Congratulations on all lucky winners. We are going to contact them in a few days to provide them with details on picking up their prizes!
