Petteri Nykky: Defence was a key to victory
Ten thousand spectators today pushed the Czech representation to the victory and qualification to the final but the Finnish players were resolutely against it. Finland secured the victory with a steely nerves and the defensive work was the most fundamental element of success.

The Finnish coach, Petteri Nykky, who is considered to be one of the best tactically-playing coach of present time, said it at the press conference: „The match was as hard as we expected. The Czechs were really excellent, their goalie performed splendidly in the first period but we were focused on our performance, tried to defend well and that was the key to victory. We knew that we’ll certainly get some chance to score and it finally happened.“ What’s more, the Finnish goals also affected the Czechs mentality because they came immediately after the score reduction.

As for tomorrow’s final match, Nykky does not think about who he would prefer: „The important fact is that we’re in the final,“ he added with a smile which he does not show very often to the lenses of cameras and camcorders.
